VSA Florida Partners with Hillsborough County Public Schools and the Contemporary Art Museum at the University of South Florida for a Student Exhibition.

VSA Florida, a not-for-profit organization, coordinates a statewide My Art My Way artist in residency program for students with and without disabilities in the public schools.

The residency at Jefferson High School had a unique opportunity to extend the traditional My Art My Way program. The residency began with a field trip to USFCAM, where the students viewed the exhibition, Climate Change: Cuba/USA. Teaching artist Michelle Ramirez then taught visual art lessons to the students for eight hours over the spring semester. The talented student artists have created their own artwork for an exhibition entitled A Wave of Change, which will be on display at the USFCAM from May 14th-17th.

On May 17th at 10:30 am, a reception to celebrate the exhibition will be held at the USFCAM, located at 3821 USF Holly Drive, Tampa, 33620. All events are free and open to the public.

For more information on the My Art My Way artist in residence program, visit www.vsafl.org or contact Dee Miller, Director of Education, at (813) 974-0745.
